Merry Christmas, friends! Curtis and I have been back in the US for almost a month now and it has been wonderful!! We have an amazing family that brings us home for the holidays and we couldn’t be more thankful. It feels so good to bundle up and drink hot coffee without sweating! This time we are home long enough that I have time to get through most of a bible study session with the women in our church, Calvary Hills. Today was my first morning studying First John and it was hugely refreshing and encouraging. I love that our church has such strong and wise women that know how to be vulnerable with each other. I can’t wait to dig deeper with these women and see how the Lord bonds us together.
So far this trip as been full of wonderful reunions! Right before thanksgiving we had the opportunity to have lunch with Pastor Mark Gomez from Utah who just so happened to be in San Diego for the holiday. We had the pleasure of serving alongside Pastor Mark in Cambodia for a few weeks and he left a lasting impression on us so it was so great to see him on the other side of the world.
We also had another reunion, but this one was much further away. Curtis and I took a road trip to Odessa, Texas to visit with Pastor Ivy Shelton and his church. This visit was especially special for us because Pastor Ivy was serving with us at the bible college when Curtis needed his emergency appendectomy last year. Pastor Ivy and his awesome church, Sherwood Baptist, prayed for us, encouraged us and supported us during that very scary time so it was a HUGE blessing to meet Sherwood Baptist in their church. Curtis and I were overwhelmed by how kind and genuine Sherwood Baptist was toward us. They made us feel like we had been members of their congregation for years! Pastor Ivy and his wife, Aimee, were kind enough to open their home to us and treated us like family. The 17 hour drive through the desert was definitely worth it, plus Curtis and I got to eat real BBQ and real Tex-Mex! All in all, it was a very successful trip. Sherwood Baptist holds a very special place with us and it was pleasure putting faces with a name!
Curtis and I fly back to Cambodia on January 15th. I cant wait to see what else the Lord is going to do while we are back for this short time. We appreciate your prayers for safe travels and health! We are both doing really well and eating our body weight in food! We are trying to see as many people as we can so please email us at brecurtisjohnson@gmail.com if want to meet up! We would love to see you.
I hope you all have a very blessed Christmas season.
God Bless,
Bre
